Panel 1:
A lively street in town as the car drives down the road. Emily, gestures dramatically while talking to Henry and Maude.
Emily: “I can’t go anywhere without being buggered about finding a man! But then they act like I’ll never get hitched!”
Maude: “I think most parents are like that.”

Panel 2
The car passes by a sign that reads "Bergen Country Club" Emily continues their conversation.
Emily: “Everyone already knows they’re gold diggers. They’ve been shopping Amelia and me around for years!”

Panel 3:
Emily and Maude in the back seat of the car. Henry has come around the side to get the door for them. Emily crosses her arms.
Emily, exasperated: “I’m tired of marriage already.”
Henry, good naturedly: “Do us both a favor and marry me, Em. Then we’d both have our parents off our backs.”

Panel 4:
Emily smiles and Henry helps her get out of the car.
Emily: “Sounds great, Henry. Set the date for next year.”

Panel 5:
The sunlit tea room of the Bergan Country Club. In the background, Emily and Maude are seated at a table, settling in to tea.
Maude: “Speaking of Amelia…”

On the way to ye old country club.

Don’t know if you forgot, Emily and her family live in New Jersey. Bergan County is the real ritzy part of north New Jersey. I know because I used to work there. I couldn’t afford to live there.

Thanks for sticking with me during this break! I was able to get a lot done and am back to being able to focus on Black Ball. It’s a real neat thing for me to be able to be a part of these anthologies!
