Panel 1:

Emily mopes on the floor while her father berates her from his armchair.

Mr. Trent: You heard your mother, Emily. Get yourself together. I want to be back in good time.

Panel 2:

Emily makes her way out of the room, but her mother accosts her. She touches Emily’s thin, brown hair.

Mrs. Trent: Try to get yourself somewhat presentable. It’s bad enough with your hair—

Panel 3:

Emily turns away, understandable annoyed. Her mother throws up her hands.

Emily: Who are we going to see driving to Uncle Charle’s?

Mrs. Trent: On, Emilly!

Panel 4:

Emily climbs up the stairs while her mother shouts at her from the bottom of the stairs.

Mrs. Trent: You have to look good wherever you go! You’re at a disadvantage!

Panel 5:

Emily stops in front of pictures of her and Amelia on the wall, the photo of Emily obscured. Emily looks downcast from her mother’s words.

Emily: You’re just not Amelia.

So the Trents won’t be earning parent of the year 1926, that’s for sure.
